Ah the best part of the Army is the FRG. HA! I am so blessed to find out today that the lead FRG lady is, you guessed it, pregnant. Oh and it's just such a great surprise! Can ya tell I'm bitter? I know I am not the only woman who is having problems having a child here but I guess the exceptionally fertile people don't have to think about that. I guess I should maybe mention that if you are going to send out an e-mail saying that not only are you pregnant, but your "partner" if you will is pregnant too, leave me off the list. But I'm sure I'd get, well we sure are busy and we can't take the time to keep track of the infertiles. Then she goes on to tell us that her husband is already where they are going and that it is the worst of conditions. Thanks. I'm so happy to know that my husband will be that much more miserable when he finally gets there. Awesome morale boost for me. Sometimes I really just don't think people think before they speak.

If your FRG leader is who I think it is, you should know that they were trying for over a year before they got pregnant. I understand you are super sensitive to all this, and rightfully so, but please also understand that just because someone is pregnant it doesn't automatically make them super-fertile.

I don't know who you're thinking of but it can't be that person. She wrote in the email that it was a complete surprise. Not to mention this is her fourth child and she has a son who is under a year old.

LOL well Im sorry then. I know the B co FRG leader, and they were trying for over a year. Did John get moved to a different company? I'm very sorry. I really thought I knew what I was talking about.

Nope, he's still in the same company. I think I know who you're referring to but she's not the FRG leader. More like second banana I guess.

I have to tell you that I think I know how you feel. My husband and I have been trying for 2 years to get pregnant with no success. My husband is deployed right now as well. I agree that the FRG up here (we're stationed in AK as well...yippie...I hate this state!) is worthless. And just like you I get those lovely "so and so is pregnant, isn't that great? Oh and they weren't even trying." So I understand why you'd be bitter hearing about this all of the time. I'd like to tell them to only send me information that is pertinent to the deployment, but like you said they'd say they're too busy to do this, maybe they just don't care. Anyway, good luck with the deployment and your baby making journey.

Are you at Ft. Rich or Ft. Wainwright? I think it makes it harder on me that even if my husband wasn't deployed, we'd still be getting nowhere. My doc couldn't give a rats ass about helping me. I understand that she has a lot of patients, but come on.

I'm at Wainwright:( Which one are you at?
It's the same for us, even if he was home we'd still be having problems. My doctor seems to care, but she's hard to get a hold of and she hasn't run some of the more basic tests, like checking ultrasounds & such to make sure that I'm dropping mature eggs. So it's all still guesswork for us. I wish I could see an RE but have been told that there are none in Fairbanks.

Me too! How crazy is that? My doctor is the same way too. She hasn't done really anything. There are girls that have been trying for waaay less who have had more tests run. There are no REs in Fairbanks but I do believe there is at least one in Anchorage. The best place I know of to go is Lackland AFB in Texas but I guess the wait is crazy.

I've heard that Lackland has a good program too, but since we're stuck in Alaska the cost of getting down there to do everything would be substantial. I've also heard that Walter Reed is pretty good with fertility stuff. If there were an RE in Anchorage it would be nice if the doctor would put in a referral. However, my doctor up here told me that IUI is an option here on post and that Tricare would cover it since it would be done on post. My only concern with this is that when you go through the treatments and do the IUI the doctor is supposed to follow you pretty closely to make sure that you get in to have the IUI done at the right time. Then they’re supposed to follow up with ultrasounds. I’m just not sure that this would happen, but I guess it’s worth a shot. I don’t know your actual situation, but you might want to talk to your doctor about trying an IUI.

They do IUIs on our post?!?!?! I heard they didn't! I am sooo excited now! I have PCOS but I have ovulated on Clomid. I just think I'm too hostile to his sperm and I'm pretty confident that an IUI will work!!!

Yep, my doctor told me that they do the IUI on our post. I asked her a lot of questions about it and she told me that after taking the medicines and hitting my fertile window that she’d take my hubby’s donation, and wash it to get the best swimmers. She said that it could all be done within a few hours. And she told me that if it’s done on post then everything is covered just like a regular doctor’s or lab visit on post. Who’s your doctor? You should definitely talk to her about it if you think you’d have a good chance at conceiving with it. My doc said that there would be a pretty good chance for us this way too as long as we can get my cycles regulated and make sure that I have viable eggs to work with.

My doc is doctor temple. Who's yours? You have no idea how much you made my day!!!!

achielle said...

My doctor is Dr. Mathieu. I don’t know Dr. Temple but I do like Dr. Mathieu. Like I said, she does seem to care, she’s just hard to get a hold of. I’m happy to pass on the info:) I’d ask your doctor why she didn’t tell you about it.

Mine usually tells me to e-mail her when I start a new cycle. Problem with that is, I have cycles that are anywhere between 60-over a hundred days.

achielle said...

I'm sorry, that makes it hard. I wasn't ovulating at all for about 6 months before my first round of Clomid & they had me on progesterone to get the cycles going. Now they seem to be relatively normal even without meds, but I only have a very light period for about 2 days each month (which in normal circumstances would be terrific). So I still don't know if I'm cycling right or not. I have a cousin who's also going through this stuff and she suggested that I talk to my Dr. about doing the shots next time around instead of the pills cuz they tend to work a little bit better. Have you tried the shots yet? I'm a bit afraid of giving myself shots, though my cousin assures me that they're not too bad.

Jenn said...

I haven't tried the shots cuz she hasn't gotten me that far. I've only done 3 rounds of clomid in the nearly 2 years we've been trying. I do think the shots would work better. My sister's in law did trigger shots and got pregnant on her first shot.

achielle said...

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that that's what I need...the trigger shots. Like I said, I'm not sure that I'm dropping mature eggs or not, but it's my understanding that with the Clomid and trigger shots that you can have a more "normal" cycle that would give a much better chance at getting pregnant. I've only done 3 rounds of Clomid too. We stopped trying the few months right before he deployed because the Clomid makes me crazy and we didn't want extra stress right before he left. I think I do want to try the shots next though.
